Overseers Meeting

September 9, 2007

Present: President Josiah Huntoon; Overseers Peter Allen, Bill Cressey, Margaret Brockway, Linda Houghton, Judy Metcalf, Judy Rohweder, Village Agent Bill Paige, Office Manager Paul Bartels, Dick Brockway, Tim Samway, Gordon Fuller, Jane Phillips, Harold Hede.

Meeting called to order at 9:00 AM.  by President Huntoon.

Minutes for August 26, 2007 Meeting were approved with changes by Tim Samway pointing out that he reported not recommend changes to the number of voters per household and terms of office.

Village Agent

Nothing new to report.

Visitor’s Concerns

Harold Hede raised a concern about the shrubbery in Merithew Square which he has been trying to keep trimmed but seems to need more attention.  Jane Phillips will investigate and take care of it.

Gordon Fuller asked if there was going to be more clean-up from the tree removal done.  Jane Phillips responded; yes.

Fuller asked for approval of excavation work which will be done on NYC property.  Bill Cressey moved to have Jo Huntoon sign a permit for the project (Permit by Rule), Marge Brockway seconded.  VOTED.

Bill Paige pointed out that there will be Sewer work going on there the first of October.  Several boats need to be removed from the Cradle Yard.  Some have been there for many years.  Trees need to be taken down and boats are in the way.  Marge Brockway will try talking to these people and have some of these boats moved.

Fuller pointed out another “tree issue” that Jane Phillips will get an estimate for.

Communications – No Report.

Facilities – No Report.

Surface Runoff

Bill Cressey distributed and led a discussion on a Bid Schedule for Road work through out the Village.  The Schedule was preliminary and he will bring a more accurate schedule to the October meeting.

Paving projects were differed until discussion of the Roads Survey results.

Finance

USDA RD $400.00 loan: Jo Huntoon distributed a worksheet as to priority and definition of projects.

Town Liaison

Peter Allen reported that the Town of Northport was pleased that NVC appointed a liaison.  Marge Brockway will fill in for Allen at the next Selectmen meeting.

Jo Huntoon reported talks are on-going with Paul Rooney to resolve Roads issues.  Bill Cressey said he has issues about George Street .  Huntoon said he should send a letter to Amon Morse.

He also reported that Judy Metcalf is composing a letter in response to the William Kelley letter about the Fire Ordinance.

Tree Warden

Jane Phillips led a discussion about Tree projects through the Village.  She will be getting estimates for review.

Winter Plowing

Bill Paige made a bid of $3,500.00 for the Plowing season of November1, 2007 through April 1, 2008.  Peter Allen motioned to accept the bid and Bill Cressey seconded – VOTED.

Future Meetings

Jo Huntoon set future Overseers meetings to the second Sunday of the month at 9:00 am.  The next meeting will be October 14.

Marge Brockway motioned to adjourn, Bill Cressey seconded. – VOTED
