Overseers Meeting

January 13, 2008

 

Present: President Josiah Huntoon; Treasurer Julian Sheffield; Overseers Peter Allen, Margaret Brockway, Linda Houghton, Judy Metcalf, Rick Melone; Village Agent Bill Paige; Village Clerk Maureen Einstein; Office Manager Paul Bartels; Residents Dick Brockway, Blair Einstein; Contractor Joseph Berubi.

 

Meeting called to order at 9:00 AM by President Huntoon.

 

Minutes for November 11, 2007 accepted as exacted by Judy Metcalf – Voted All in Favor.

 

Financial

 

Julian Sheffield reported on the financials of the Village.  Bill Cressey motioned, Judy Metcalf seconded to accept the report as given – Voted All in Favor.

 

Metcalf moved to approve the Annual Warrants as stated – Voted All in Favor. (Copy of Clerk’s Certificate of Vote is attached)

 

 

Village Agent

 

No report.

 

Visitors’ Concerns

 

Joseph Berubi addressed the Overseers on behalf of Martha Borgeson & David Beaver about moving a house near Bayview Park .  The following was motioned by Judy Metcalf and seconded by Peter Allen:

1.      The house cannot be on public property later than April 15th.

2.      No movement can take place while the Town of Northport has the roads posted.  Contractors must abide by any posting notices.

3.      There must be a minimum of a ten foot passageway for fire Vehicles.  Including the roadway into Bayview Park .

4.      Homeowners will sign an Indemnification Agreement and post a Bond.

 

Voted All in Favor.

Facilities

 

Discussion about revised Dock Works Invoice.  Metcalf motioned Cressey seconded to pay the revised Dock Works invoice – Votes All in Favor.

 

Judy Metcalf moved to reimburse Marge Brockway $200 for the annual gifts, Bill Cressey seconded – Voted All in Favor.

 

Safety

 

Judy Metcalf motioned to reimburse Peter Allen $100 - paid to Maine Criminal Justice Academy for our police officers’ training, Jo Huntoon seconded – Voted All in Favor.

 

Items for Discussion


Approval of Auditors: Judy Metcalf moved that Purdy Powers be retained for the 2007 NVC Financial audit – Voted All in Favor.


Bangor Savings Bank Account(s): Jo Huntoon motioned and Judy Metcalf seconded to open banking accounts with the Bangor Savings Bank – Voted All in Favor.


FEMA Money: Discussion of Cobe Road and Maple Street – No Action Taken.


Grant Status: Jo Huntoon moved to have Robert Frank’s company perform the work necessary, seconded by Bill Cressey – Voted All in Favor.


House Move for Foundation: Previously discussed and voted under Visitors’ Concerns.


Vacation Policy: Discussion of a request by Fern Barton – No Action Taken.

Future Meetings

 

President Huntoon set the next Overseers meeting to February 10, 2008 at 9:00 AM.

 

Judy Metcalf motioned to adjourn, Marge Brockway seconded. – Voted All in Favor.
