FEMA Reimbursement for Storm Damage

Good News!

Nearly a year ago, a violent spring storm washed away much of our causeway, damaged our overboard discharge pipe, and made canyons of many of our roads.  Bill Paige and others worked diligently and prudently to repair the damage.

Now, we gratefully acknowledge their repair work and the assistance of FEMA and the Town’s representatives in obtaining for the Village some reimbursement for the substantial damage we incurred.  Through the good auspices of Peter Simpson, who serves as the town’s emergency claims administrator and liaison and the Town Office, the Village has recently received approximately $11,000 as reimbursement for the repairs promptly undertaken last spring.

We appreciate Peter and the Town shepherding this claim through the Federal and related bureaucracies.  Bill Paige deserves special thanks as well for assisting from the start in gathering the information necessary to validate our claim.

At times the storm – and its financial impact – receded from our memory.  That was never true for Overseer Peter Allen.  As our liaison to the Town of Northport he monitored the status of the application and helped assure that the Village’s money was accounted and distributed.

The Village’s expenses for the repairs necessitated by the Patriot’s Day storm were greater than the FEMA money received.  Nonetheless, thanks to the cooperation and diligence displayed by all those who helped salve the financial wound, Bayside can find good news in the Patriot’s Day storm in its friends, Peter Simpson and all the Town’s representatives.
