Not
to editorialize, but to clear the air. There is a bit of a rumor going around
that the snow removal contract was not above board. This is not or was not the
case. The crew that handled snow removal last year was not interested. We knew
that well up front. The "request for bids" was advertised in our local
papers. We had no takers other than Bill Magruder. He has invested a
considerable amount into snow removal equipment and manpower. It is a three-year
contract. We are delighted to have the contract with a local "in town"
contractor. Selectman Paul Rooney
oversees the activity. The contract was a standard State/MMA recommended
contract relative to the work to be performed. There were no hoops or
stipulations to hinder others from bidding. So if you hear "the
rumor", please put the disgruntled party in touch with the town office. Our
goal is positive up front communications. |
