Belfast Historical Society Program: Katherine Frost Bruner, “A Victorian Childhood” & The Jennie Flood Kreger 100 Years (Abbott Room, Belfast Free Library; 7 PM) In 1992, Katherine Frost, born in 1907 wrote about her childhood in Belfast, the steamers, the railroad, school, recreation and the people, places and events in turn of the century Belfast. She was a witness to the launching of the Jennie Flood Kreger in 1919 and wrote a journal describing the event. 2019 marks the 100th anniversary of that launch. Belfast Historical Society Program: Maple Grove Campground (Abbott Room, Belfast Free Library; 7 PM) The Campground was located on the western shore of Cain's Pond in Searsport and was the site of traditional religious camp meetings beginning in 1880. In 1928, fire destroyed most of the buildings, including 21 cottages, a boarding house and an auditorium. It was never rebuilt. If you are leaving Bayside prior to Sunday, please bring your food donations to the Wright cottage at 7 Main Street. The food will be placed in shopping bags and placed on chairs in the Community Hall.
