She her every day outside the lounge windows and bundles up with a blanket and talks to her mother and others for at least an hour every day! Yesterday, she made a snow person to leave behind for her mother and others! She has also drawn animals and Easter and spring-type images on the window. Her brother also arrives most days, driving a huge truck, and jumps out and chats with his mother and others. He toots his horn as he drives around the building. It’s really heartwarming to see!”

2020-08-31 Mr Moderator by Nelson
2020-08-31 Mr. Moderator, photographed by Steve Nelson at the 2018 Annual Meeting of the Northport Village Corporation. As we close out August, I want to recognize one of Bayside’s Treasure’s, Tim Samway. Tim served as moderator of our annual meetings for 21 years (!), a responsibility he took seriously and executed exceptionally, with last year being his final meeting in that role. While, unfortunately, no remarks to this effect were made earlier this month at the 2020 annual meeting, in 2018, on the occasion was Tim’s 20th year as moderator of the annual meeting, President John Spritz presented Tim with this model of the Bayside Library, crafted by (Overseer, at the time) Dick Brockway. Thank you, Tim, for your service as moderator and for all the other things you do for the Bayside community! #mrbayside #baysidetreasure #communityservice #moderator #annualmeeting #communityhall #baysidemaine

2020-04-08 Off Limits, photographed by Bill Paige. “It’s a sad day in Bayside due to Covid-19.” As communicated on April 5, out of an abundance of caution, the Overseers have chosen to close the playground and basketball court in Ruggles Park. The dock will stay open, but please remember to not touch surfaces (i.e., railing, benches) as these surfaces are not disinfected. Continue to use caution by social distancing six feet apart and use good personal hygiene by washing your hands.

2020-07-16 ISS Over ME, photographed by Lisa Webster last night around 10 PM as the International Space Station (the brightest object) traversed the Bayside sky. The station was visible for several minutes, until it was past Newfoundland. It will be visible several times tonight (8:28-8:34 PM, 10:04-10:11 PM and 11:42-11:48 PM), as well. The app ISS Live Now will let you know when it flies over the area (see the ISS Detector option), and also gives you a view from the ISS. 2020-04-28 Summer in Maine by Hall
2020-04-28 Summer in Maine, submitted by Sandy Hall and introducing “Matt and Claire’s Summer in Maine”! Written by Sandy Hall and illustrated by her daughter, Gretchen Irby, this children’s book is set in Bayside. As in this example, every page will look familiar to their Bayside audience, as two young visitors explore the community and dive into summer fun. I have purchased (several copies of) the book, and it’s terrific! There should be at least one copy in every Bayside cottage. You can now bring a little piece of Bayside magic home in this tough time when we all need a smile. The book sells for $14.95, plus tax and shipping, and is available at www.baysidebook.com. Copies will also be available this summer at various activities which may take place (fingers crossed), or at the Hall’s Union Cottage in Auditorium Park.
